GR–NEAM Names New President

Farmington, CT, June 1, 2010 … Mr. Gerard (Jerry) Lynch, Chairman and CEO of General Re–
New England Asset Management, Inc. (GR–NEAM), announced that Mr. William (Bill) Rotatori
has been appointed President of GR–NEAM effective immediately. “Given Bill’s tremendous
contribution to the firm over the last 10 years, I am confident that he is the right person to lead
the firm in this new role. We look forward to continuing to serve the investment needs of our
clients and to grow our global business in a thoughtful and disciplined way,” said Mr. Lynch.

Mr. Rotatori has over 22 years of investment experience and joined GR–NEAM in 2000 where
he had been responsible for the Client Strategy group. In his new role, he will continue to report
to Mr. Lynch. Mr. Rotatori is a CFA Charterholder and received his undergraduate degree from
Georgetown University and his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Graduate School
of Business.

As a result of this change, Mr. Calvin (Chip) Clark will assume responsibility for the Client
Strategy group, reporting to Mr. Rotatori. Mr. Clark has over 24 years of investment experience
and has been with GR–NEAM since 1992 having served in a variety of roles within the
Investment and Client Strategy groups. He graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in
Economics.
