GR–NEAM Hires Patrick Scully

Farmington, CT, December 2, 2010 … Mr. Jerry Lynch, Chairman and CEO of General Re–New
England Asset Management, Inc. (GR–NEAM) announced that Mr. Patrick Scully has joined
GR–NEAM as a Client Strategist. Mr. Scully is responsible for delivering investment and capital
management services and products to GR–NEAM clients, reporting to Chip Clark, head of GR–
NEAM’s Client Strategy Group.

Mr. Scully has over 15 years of investment experience. Prior to joining GR–NEAM, Mr. Scully
was employed by WellsCanning, where he was a consultant, responsible for advising insurance
clients on their investment portfolios. In addition, he was the Assistant Treasurer for Tufts
Health Plan, a regional health insurance company in Massachusetts. Patrick is a graduate of
the University of Colorado with a B.A. in History, holds an M.B.A. from the Olin Graduate School
at Babson College and is a CFA Charterholder.
