What Is A Cookie?

A cookie is a small piece of data that may be stored on your computer or mobile device. It allows a website to “remember” your actions or preferences over a length of time. New England Asset Management (“NEAM”) uses cookies to make your visits more effective.

Further information on cookies can be found at http://ec.europa.eu/ipg/basics/legal/cookies/index_en.htm

How Are They Used On This Site?

This site uses 2 different types of cookies:

  • Session Cookies
  • Persistent Cookies

Session Cookies are temporary cookies that are not stored on your computer or mobile device. These session cookies are erased when you close your browser.

Persistent cookies are those placed on your computer or mobile device for a pre-determined length of time when you visit this site. This site only places cookies that are specific to this site.

Key

Description

_hssc

This cookie keeps track of sessions. This is used to determine if we should increment the session number and timestamps in the _hstc cookie. It contains the domain, viewCount (increments each pageView in a session), and session start timestamp. This cookie expires after 30 minutes.

_hssrc

Whenever HubSpot changes the session cookie, this cookie is also set. We set it to 1 and use it to determine if the visitor has restarted their browser. If this cookie does not exist when we manage cookies, we assume it is a new session.

_hstc

The main cookie for tracking visitors. It contains the domain, utk (see below), initial timestamp (first visit), last timestamp (last visit), current timestamp (this visit), and session number (increments for each subsequent session).

_utma

This cookie keeps track of the number of times a visitor has been to the site pertaining to the cookie, when their first visit was, and when their last visit occurred. This cookie will last for two years.

_utmb

The B and C cookies are brothers, working together to calculate how long a visit takes. _utmb takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor enters a site, while _utmc takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor leaves a site. _utmb expires at the end of the session. _utmc waits 30 minutes, and then it expires.

_utmc

The B and C cookies are brothers, working together to calculate how long a visit takes. _utmb takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor enters a site, while _utmc takes a timestamp of the exact moment in time when a visitor leaves a site. _utmb expires at the end of the session. _utmc waits 30 minutes, and then it expires.

_utmt

Used to distinguish users and sessions. The cookie is created when the javascript library executes and no existing _utma cookies exists. The cookie is updated every time data is sent to Google Analytics.

_utmz

Keeps track of where the visitor came from, what search engine you used, what link you clicked on, what keyword you used, and where they were in the world when you accessed a website. This cookie will last for 6 months.
